Kym Horsell

I am a Gemini and that's all you really need to know.

-- usually sole managerial consideration

They said it was only luck. But the more I practised, the luckier I got.

If your ideas are any good you'll have to ram them down people's throats.

These people are NOT me:

Someone named Kym Horsell is available at
hyuvq@csv.warwick.ac.uk / Computing Services, University of Warwick

Andrew Horsell is at
andrewh@law.uct.ac.za / University of Cape Town, South Africa

Henrik Thorsell is at
hthorsel@gac.edu / Gustavus Adolphus College, St. Peter

and Linus Thorsell is at
f95lith@dd.chalmers.se / Chalmers University of Technology, Gothenburg

There are also 2 or 3 other (Dr/MD) Kym Horsell's around Australia. At least 1 is on the net as of 2003.

Related Horsell's:

  1. See "War of the Worlds". Read between the lines, Earthlings!
  2. E. G. Ravensteins map of Ben Nevis (f887) first employed the colors of the spectrum, viz, green to brown, in ascending order for the land; blue, indigo and violet for the sea, increasing in intensity with the height or the depth. At first cartographers chose their colors rather arbitrarily. Thus Horsell, who was the first to introduce tints on his map of Sweden and Norway (1:600,000; 1835), colored the lowlands up to 300 ft. in green, succeeded by red, yellow and white for the higher ground; while A. Papen, on his hypsographical map of Central Europe (1857) introduced a perplexing range of colors.

Various "expert" opinions regarding who and/or what I am and/or what I am or should be:

WARNINGS:
  1. There may are may not be a correlation between the following material and the originator's reputation as a "kook" and/or IRL "[racist] [gun] nut" and/or their (in)ability to pose a coherent position on a *.politics newsgroup.

  2. There may be passing resemblance between some comments and the neurotic ego defence known widely (although apparently not to all DSM-citing undergrad psych students) as projection.

  3. For more details on authors and on what basis they make various comments, please feel free to consult DejaNEWS.

The Aus.Politics Who's Who:
Kym writes up the OzNews files which are periodically posted to soc.culture.australian, which are an invaluable resource if you're overseas or unable to muster up the cash to afford a TV or newspapers in Oz. She complains that everyone assumes she's a guy, and compiles newsgroup statistics on anything and everything even vaguely plausible.

Greig Ebeling eggsoft@sydney.dialix.oz, 10 Sep 1998.
  [Kym:]
  >As I explain from time-to-time and under various web pages, I make no
  >use of any material that is not (a) freely available from public sites on
  >the web, or (b) sent via anonymous email. ;-)
Another lie - your email is blocked, <PROJECTION> nobody sends you any email,
"anonymous" or otherwise. Do you pretend that you have friends and
cohorts who engage with you in your cyber-stalking? You don't have
friends, Horsell. You are a lonely, misguided, insecure individual,
and you use the 'net to make other people feel bad.</PROJECTION>

[Greig is known to mail crank letters he's copied from prototypes he's seen on the Internet. For more details see relevant crank archive/net.morgue.]

Mosley Jones III/DemSoc/Inver crabs@mail.com (among very many others), 27 Jul 1998
well Kym you are quick to put out challenges as if you were
a intelligent girl [;-)]. <PROJECTION>But you have answered you own question
  wrong ten times.</PROJECTION>

[Mosley Jones III (aka Allan Mosley to some posters and DemSoc to others) was voted "Millennium Kook" of Aus.Politics in 2000, partly for his ability to question the intelligence/ability of others posters at the same time as dropping an obvious clanger or transparently lying himself. An extensive compendium of Jones' self-contradictory quotes can be found at DejaNews (now Google.COM), www.crank.org, and other net.morgues].

Mosley Jones III crabs@mail.com 1 Aug 1998
I have found Kim [sic] to be of <PROJECTION>maybe average intelligence and no
more. But I have noticed how important it is to her [;-)] to be
  thought of as intelligent</PROJECTION>

No full-stop. But that is the end of the paragraph.

Mosley posting as DemSoc (no email), 8 Feb 2003.
A fake post, probably Horsell trying to prove her delusions.

  [To R Kym Horsell:]
  $ Girlie
$ Still plying with your clit!!!!

  [To R Kym Horsell:]
  $ Girlie!
$ Have been playing with your clit again?
  $ BTW
$ Have you tenure at Latrobe?

  $ R Kym Horsell is a female.

[Many more like the above. Roly has a perpetual fascination with (other?) women and their physiology].

Scott T Hillard shillard@ozemail.com.au (more of the same here), 6 Oct 1997.
It's you, but all wannabe stat professors (STILL waiting for tenure
  Kym?) are clueless twonks.

I find "clueless twonks" are chronic bad guessers and judge things superficially -- like by Email address. Scott is a former(?) encyclopedia salesman who now arranges sales training missions in FNQ and the NT. He tells the SMH his AMEX bill is $100,000 pa.

Scott T Hillard shillard@ozemail.com.au, 4 Aug 1998.
You didn't answer my question - <PROJECTION>you ARE an academic, aren't you Kym?
Or are you just a member of team denim, right at home in your highly
unfashionable DARK blue jeans, just wasting space around the Uni, on
first name terms with the coke machine in the compsci building? Some
useless pov that smells of sour milk, living off 2 minute noodles?</PROJECTION>

Scott T Hillard shillard@ozemail.com.au, 14 Aug 1998.
You STILL haven't answered my question Russell - <splitting> all I want is
confirmation that you are an academic - or that you have even been
  awarded a degree by a University</splitting>.
  ...
<PROJECTION>This from a pov living in the shitties of pov suburbs </PROJECTION>;of Melbourne.

[While superficially claiming the opposite, Scott indicates from time-to-time he was brought up in rural NSW, had a social-climbing mother who taught him to detest poverty, but is presently not all that well-off, can't afford to let 5% of his salary go in super or have kids. He forgets from time-to-time he claimed to get along quite OK on $AUS20K pa, posting a detailed list of his expenses to Aus.Politics in 2001 as "proof"].

Geoff Niland geoff@iws.com.au
We probably confused Kym as well. He's probably wondering where we
decided to follow the dark side of the farce.
Kym> Please tell us what evidence you have that I am male (or female,
  Kym> for that matter).

Reg Braddock braddock@labrador.apana.org.au
Just to clear some confusion, Kym is female. We're not sure if she is
  human, but she is female.

[Subsequent "definitive proof" of gender hinged on (a) The Aus.Politics Who's Who, written by someone that Reg admits he's not sure knows the facts; and (b) the simple existence of my Status of women page, that Reg interprets thus:]
Would a man give a shit? Ok, some would, but on the balance of
probability, it would be reasonable to assume that Kym has a vested
  interest in the issue.

[Hard to escape that projection thing, no matter how many times it's mentioned...]

[And yet another theory:]

There is another theory: you are not actually a person, but a
committee - a prank by the staff at a university. That would also
  explain some things.

Tom Osborn osborn@socs.uts.edu.au
From what I can tell - somewhat of a cold reading - Kym's
<PROJECTION> a yet another pretentious bimbo after a
free ride on ideologies most people might nod to before they become
fully awake. Now if that's what she gets from following Kennett as a
role model (but probably with a smaller nose and better haircut) she
has achieved something - meme cloning - in the old days we called it
  conceptual plagerism. </PROJECTION>

[heard the "conceptual plagerism" (sic) one before, BTW]

David S Maddison maddison@power.connexus.net.au , 19 Dec 1997.
One characteristic of R. Kym Horsell, known to us on aus.politics, is
that, like <PROJECTION>"The Terminator", "he absolutely
will not stop, ever". As long as someone is prepared to keep posting,
he will keep doing followups, sometimes, hundreds of them. Most of his
debating opponents eventually give up through lack of time and
interest and he ends up getting the last word
  </PROJECTION>.

[I have a collection of David's extensive posting; some 2000 items as at Apr 1998]

Bob Milsom rmilsom@enterprise.net
Ho hum... another LaTrobe undergraduate fails to answer objective
  points on this thread.

[Me too! Me too!]

Des Bromilow bromild@citec.qld.gov.au
Hi Kim [SIC],like you I had an account with "Electronic Engineering"
  in it. (Graduated last year).
<PROJECTION>Are you letting your studies slide to maintain your presence in this
newsgroup, or are you one of those who just have an account but not
  actually studying?</PROJECTION>
If you are a student I would suggest you concentrate more on your
studies since they will do more to <PROJECTION>improve the quality of your life (
and family) </PROJECTION> than removing firearms from those who don't want to give
  them up.

Synic flavp+hfrarg@nhgbaf.arg.nh.
$ Come now. You're the king of the ad hom. That's why you collect and
$ use your database of out-of-context quotes ;-).

[Yet another person that doesn't like to have my out-of-context quote collection used in my .signature line. How very passive-aggressive :)].

Jacques Guy (jguy@alphalink.com.au).
He appears to be a long-time lecturer in computer science, viz this
  acknowledgment, found on:

[Jacques went on to try to guess which department I must be a lecturer based on a single ref from retired member of the Philosophy faculty who said I had "taught" him about continuation passing. Jacques "deduced" he was my student and, therefore, I was a lecturer. A bit of a "control issue" then developed ;-). I would recommend him for work in the Pentagon analysis dept any day].

David Rose drose@metz.une.edu.au
Kym does seem to have endless time to contribute to the
  aus.poli groups.
Possibly matched only by STaRaNTo. A quick visit to the fine institution
hosting Kym's homepage and a troll through the staff directory reveals
that Kym is either a student or a phantom on staff at ee. A quick couple
of clicks and we see, by the magic of Web, that Kym doesn't have a listed
'phone number in the region either. Looking more like a student. And the
  second Horsell homepage is down....
A phantom indeed..... but it's back to work for me :-)

[Looking through the phone book? Phwet! For real stalking, check with Scott T Hillard who combs through electoral rolls so he can arrange for people to come and look through your garbage cans! Or the infamous Ted (tyre iron) Kaldis, known to snap photos of mailboxes while on business trips O/S, so he can show them on his various web pages and publicise same on USENET to "send a message" that he's an wannabe stalker IRL].
