Department of Energy Home Page
The Department of Energy, in partnership with our customers, is entrusted to contribute to the welfare of the Nation by providing the technical information and scientific and educational foundation for technology, policy, and institutional leadership necessary to achieve efficiency in energy use, diversity in energy sources, a more productive and competitive economy, improved environmental quality, and a secure national defense. http://www.doe.gov/

Research involving human subjects
This Department of Energy database contains descriptions of the methods used in all research projects involving human subjects that are currently funded by the Department of Energy or are performed at DOE facilities with support from others, as reported to DOE by DOE grantees and contractors using the standard "Protecting Human Subjects" form (copy attached). Summary information on all of the studies has been provided, along with a complete hard copy of the information, which includes a full report on each project. gopher://gopher.gdb.org:70/7waissrc:/funding/DOE

DOE Office of Environment, Safety, and Health Home Page
This office is the corporate resource that fosters departmental excellence through innovative leadership in the protection of workers, public and the environment. The commitment to excellence is demonstrated by pursuing continuous improvement in developing meaningful programs, policies, and priorities in conducting independent oversight of Environmental, Safety and Health (ES&H) performance and providing technical resources, assistance and information sharing domestically and abroad. Integral to EH success is open communication, participation, and performance feedback from relevant parties on EH activities. http://charis.pnl.gov:8001/esh/home.htm

DOE Office of Human Radiation Experiments
The Office of Human Radiation Experiments (HREX), established in March 1994, leads the Department of Energy's efforts to tell the agency's Cold War story of radiation research using human subjects. We have undertaken an intensive effort to identify and catalog relevant historical documents from DOE's 3.2 million cubic feet of records scattered across the country. Internet access to these resources is a key part of making DOE more open and responsive to the American public. http://www.ohre.doe.gov/

HREX databases
HREX is a Department of Energy system consisting of several databases. These contain nearly 150,000 pages of historical documents about human radiation experiments as well as recent reports about these documents. http://www.ohre.doe.gov/hrex_v2/
